ROUND 1
1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
No surprise here, this is inevitable. Trevor Lawrence is the main reason Urban Meyer took the head coaching job.
2. New York Jets: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
The top 2 picks of the draft are almost a guarantee at this point in the draft process. Both quarterbacks have electric arms and fit the offenses that they will be in. The curiosity of the draft begins at pick 3 with the 49ers.
3. San Francisco 49ers: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
The 49ers gave up a haul to get up to 3, and its almost certain they take their potential QB of the future. Mac Jones fits the system, as he is a pocket passer who is able to read defenses at a very high level. He does not have the arm talent of the two guys taken ahead of him, but his arm is still good. Jones seems like the type of quarterback Kyle Shanahan likes and I believe they take him with the 3rd pick.
4. *TRADE* Denver Broncos: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
The Broncos have said they will bring in competition for Drew Lock, and they are obviously not satisfied with their future situation at QB. I see them trading up to 4 and ensuring they are able to get the quarterback they desire. Fields' athleticism is key to his success and his arm is good, but he needs some coaching on technique. Fields would definitely be competition for Lock and would start at some point this season. With this pick, the Broncos believe they have their quarterback for the foreseeable future.
5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
It has been rumored that Joe Burrow is pushing for the Bengals to draft Ja’Marr Chase. Although, the Bengals are fine at the receiver position, and need to work on protecting their investment at quarterback. Penei Sewell will do the job, as he is a physically imposing left tackle who can protect Burrow’s blindside. Lineman are not usually a sexy pick to the average fan, but they are often a smart pick for a football team.
6. Miami Dolphins: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
The Dolphins need to find out if Tua is the real deal, and for that, they need to see him improve, and for that, they need to get him weapons. They signed Will Fuller in free agency, which will help, and will hand him another weapon by drafting Kyle Pitts. Pitts is an explosive athlete who can line up all over the field and is a challenging matchup for defenders. Many analysts and scouts believe that Pitts could be the best player in this draft, and I could see that happening as well. Pitts will be a great fit for the Dolphins offense and will definitely help Tua Tagovailoa’s Progression.
7. *Trade* Washington Football Team: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
Sorry Ryan Fitzpatrick, it is happening again. The Washington Football Team has a quality, young defense, as well as some nice pieces to work with on offense. While Fitzpatrick will start the season, and may even start the entire season, Washington must draft a long-term answer at the QB position. It is reasonable to predict that this team could make the playoffs with Fitzpatrick this season, which means that they will not be in a position to draft a top quarterback talent next year, in what many say will be a weak qb class. Trey Lance has shown great physical abilities but lacks snaps on the field. He will learn the intricacies of the NFL game behind Fitzpatrick and may end up playing this year at some point.
8. Carolina Panthers: Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
The Panthers used all of their picks in last year’s draft to build their defense, and with their first pick this year they will address the offensive side of the ball. The Panthers want to improve their intermediate and down-field passing game with Sam Darnold, which means he will need good protection. Christian Darrisaw is up to par in pass protection and run blocking and can start from day one.
9. *TRADE*Philadelphia Eagles: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
The Eagles jumped down from 6 to 12 a few weeks ago, and acquired some extra draft picks in the deal, which they will use to jump back up in the draft to 9. Ja’Marr Chase has dropped far enough, and with the Giants picking before the Eagles, they cannot risk waiting for him to drop to 12. The Falcons will move back a short distance again because they have many holes to fill on their defense and offensive line and need to gather many picks to try and solve these issues, and do not lose much value going from 9 to 12. Back to the Eagles, they are in desperate need of weapons, and Chase dropping to 9 is a blessing, as they are able to get an elite talent at the position.
10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
The Cowboys need to fix their defensive issues if they want to go far into the playoffs. Their secondary is not good, and with this pick they get help to fix the problem. Surtain is not a burner, but he is technically sound and is capable of playing man and zone coverages.
11. New York Giants: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
The Giants had a big free agency and will look to keep the momentum going into the season with the draft. Micah Parsons will help the Giants defense, as it gives them an athletic linebacker who can fly around the field and make plays. Parsons has a versatile skillset and can be used all over the Giants’ front seven. The Giants hope to improve and make the playoffs this season, and Parsons could be a key contributor to their defense in his first season.
12. Atlanta Falcons: Kwity Paye, Edge, Michigan
The Falcons’ defense was bad last year and must improve at many positions on that side of the ball. The secondary was terrible and must improve, so the Falcons will think about taking a cornerback here, but their pass rush also needs work. A great pass rush always helps a bad secondary. Kwity Paye is a phenomenal play disrupter. He does not have the greatest production in terms of sack numbers, but he messes up tons of plays and has a great combination of strength and speed. He can line up us a 4-3 defensive end and 3-4 outside linebacker and could be a key piece of the Falcons defense for years to come.
13. Los Angeles Chargers: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
New head coach Brandon Staley specializes on the defensive side of the ball and comes from having a great defense with the Rams. The chargers have some nice, young pieces on the defensive side of the ball, but need help outside. Caleb Farley is arguably the most talented cornerback in the draft class. He has great size, speed, and has proven to be a lockdown defender. Injuries could be a worry, as he is coming off of back surgery, but the talent is too good to pass up, considering the need and scheme fit.
14. Minnesota Vikings: Rashawn Slater, OT/OG, Northwestern
The Vikings moved on from left tackle Riley Reiff this offseason and need to improve their offensive line. Slater has shown his athleticism and strength and that he will likely be able to translate it to the NFL, although his position is uncertain. The Vikings would probably start him at left tackle, but his 6-foot-3 frame and 32-inch arms may move him inside. In the Vikings case, they could also use help on the interior offensive line, so this pick could turn out to be a good one, despite his position at the next level.
15. New England Patriots: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
The Patriots probably did not anticipate Smith falling to them, but since he did, they should take him. Free agency acquisitions Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor are probably not long-term solutions at the position, and it has been rumored that the team is shopping former first round pick N’Keal Harry. Smith has a thin frame but has shown the ability to get open with ease at the college level and has the speed and athleticism to play on the outside.
16. Arizona Cardinals: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
The Cardinals are in need at the cornerback position and will hope to find their CB1 of the future. Horn put up impressive numbers at his pro day, which seems to be helping his stock rise. He is good in man and press coverage, and he is very physical, which may get him in trouble with PI and holding calls in the NFL, so he will need to work on his technique, but has the potential to be a shutdown corner.
17. Las Vegas Raiders: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
The Raiders defense has many holes to fill and is in need of playmakers. Owusu-Koramoah fits the description, as he is willing to fly around the field and make plays. He is very fast for a linebacker and is good in coverage, and should be able to cover slot receivers and tight ends. His versatility should certainly help the Raiders defense improve.
18. Miami Dolphins: Jaelan Phillips, Edge, Miami
The Dolphins work on the other side of the ball with their second first-round pick. Brian Flores coached a very impressive defense last season, and they look to fill a need at pass rusher that will help them be even better this season. Phillips' injuries are a concern, but his talent is too good to pass up. He plays a very physical style and has a phenomenal skillset at pass rusher. Flores will utilize Phillips nicely in his defense.
19. Detroit Lions: Christian Barmore, IDL, Alabama
The Lions could use an upgrade at almost every position on their team. With Waddle still on the board, it will be difficult to pass up, but the Lions want a tough and physical football team, which means they will build their team through the trenches. Barmore is a strong defensive lineman who can create pressure and be a difficult test for many offensive lines. The Lions have a long way to go in their rebuild, but this pick will make a strong statement in how they want to mold their roster.
20. Chicago Bears: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
The Bears have needs on the offensive line and at the cornerback position, but the receiver position could also use some work, and they cannot allow Jaylen Waddle to slide any further down the board. Also, I do not get the feeling that Allen Robinson will be on the team too much longer. Waddle gives the Bears an explosive weapon to work with on offense and would fit in the slot nicely for his first season.
21. Indianapolis Colts: Walker Little, OT, Stanford
Walker Little has not played much the past two seasons, but when he has played, he plays very well and has great film to show for it. Little has the physical and technical tools to succeed at the next level, and his time away should not affect him too much. The Colts fill one of their biggest needs and Little can start at left tackle from day one.
22. Tennessee Titans: Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU
The Titans recently lost Corey Davis in free agency and will look to replace him early in the draft. Terrace Marshall Jr. is a tall receiver with a great catch radius, and with him on the other side of A.J. Brown could be difficult for defenses to cover. The Titans like to pass the ball downfield, and the LSU product will fit right into the offense.
23. New York Jets: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT/OG, USC
The Jets have some holes to fill on their offensive line to protect their new quarterback. Vera-Tucker played tackle in college, but is expected to move inside in the NFL, which works for the Jets, as their interior offensive line struggled mightily last season. Vera-Tucker will be able to start from day one with his new team.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State
Last year, the Steelers run game was not effective at all, which forced them to drop back and pass too much, and in both areas, the offensive line struggled over the course of the season. Jenkins can help solve their offensive line issues, as he was a dominant force for Oklahoma State, and has the physical tools to dominate at the next level.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jayson Oweh, Edge, Penn State
Urban Meyer has emphasized the importance of having a top-4 defensive line in the NFL. In order to do that, the line must be able to get after the passer, stop the run, and have depth. Jayson Oweh is a spectacular athlete who has the speed and strength to line up as a 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker. Although, he had 0 sacks this past season, he is a great play disrupter and can get off blocks with ease in order to stop the run or put pressure on the quarterback.
26. Cleveland Browns: Azeez Ojulari, Edge/OLB, Georgia
The Browns are pretty set on offense for starting positions, but their defense could use some work if they want to make it further in the playoffs. Myles Garrett is one of the best pass rushers in the league, but the Browns need another efficient pass rusher on the other side. Ojulari is a speed pass rusher and also has the athleticism and versatility to also play some 4-3 outside linebacker.
27. Baltimore Ravens: Landon Dickerson, C, Alabama
Center is a position the Ravens need to get better at in order to continue running the ball effectively and improve blocking for their passing game. Patrick Mekari did not play at a high-caliber last season and had a poor day snapping the ball in the AFC Divisional playoff game against the Bills. The Ravens find a long-term solution with Dickerson, who has been dominant when healthy. He is coming off an ACL tear, but seems to be doing well, as he was doing cartwheels at Alabama’s pro day. He is smart, technically sound, and has the strength to adapt to the NFL just fine.
28. New Orleans Saints: Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
Even with many losses in free agency, the Saints will still be competitive next season, but they do need work in some areas, the cornerback position being the main area. Tyson Campbell will be able to start on the outside and is good in man and zone coverage. He is also an efficient tackler for a corner, as he has only missed 6 tackles in his college career.
29. Green Bay Packers: Levi Onwuzurike, DL, Washington
The Packers could go in a few different directions here, as they could use a cornerback or receiver, but considering Aaron Rodgers won MVP last year with the supporting cast he had, I do not anticipate the Packers choosing a receiver in the first round. The packers defensive line needs help stopping the run and interior pass rush, and Levi Onwuzurike is an upgrade on what they currently have on their roster.
30. Buffalo Bills: Gregory Rousseau, Edge, Miami
The Bills expect to be a super bowl contending team this year, but need to brush up at some positions, pass rusher being one of them. Rousseau is a great athlete but is still relatively new to the defensive end position and did not play this past season after opting out. His game needs to be developed for him to reach his full potential, but he is athletically gifted and has the ability to be a quality pass rusher with some coaching. He would likely be used rotationally in his first year and could help the Bills on 3rd down.
31. Kansas City Chiefs: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
After the Super Bowl and cutting Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, it is evident that the Chiefs need offensive line help. They made free agency moves on the interior section but are in need of a left tackle. They look to Samuel Cosmi to fill the void and help protect Patrick Mahomes. Cosmi has proven to be a good pass blocker and should help with pass protection in the Chiefs high-octane offense.
32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jevon Holland, DB, Oregon
The 2020 Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers are returning all starters for the 2021 season and will be looking to gain depth throughout their roster. Jevon Holland has the ability to play safety and slot corner and would provide depth in the secondary.

37. Philadelphia Eagles: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa
