Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

1. Buffalo Bills (3-1) –

Started slow against the Ravens but looked better in the last three quarters and fought back to earn a win.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) (↑2)

The Chiefs are coming off of a dominating performance against a talented Buccaneers team where Patrick Mahomes and the offense moved the ball extremely well against the Bucs defense, which is one of the league’s best.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) –

The only undefeated team in the NFL and have looked very impressive on both sides of the ball. They were down 14-0 early but stuck to their run game and the defense stepped up and forced key turnovers, which allowed them to come back quickly and win. Although they are undefeated, I still have them below the Chiefs and Bills because if they played head-to-head, I cannot say with confidence they would win.

4. Green Bay Packers (3-1) (↑1)

The Packers have looked good, but not dominant to this point in the season, although they still have the talent to find that dominance. Aaron Rodgers is working to trust his young lineman and receivers more, but if he is able to grow his confidence in them, the offense could look more efficient and be more of a threat to opposing defenses.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) (↑1)

Beginning their game with a kickoff return fumble and quick deficit had them fighting from behind all game, which was difficult to do against the exhilarating Chiefs offense. The defense is often a strength of the team but could not compete with the Chiefs this week, but I am not concerned too much about this loss, as the team is still talented and will be very competitive in the NFC.

6. San Francisco 49ers (2-2) (↑5)

The defense has dominated and is holding opposing offenses to 3.81 yards per play through 4 games. The offense looked better this week and had explosive touchdowns from Deebo Samuel and Jeff Wilson Jr. They look like the best team in the NFC West right now.

7. Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) (↑2)

Defense has looked good this season and the offense has started to find a rhythm. Earned a victory over the Dolphins behind a big performance from WR Tee Higgins.

8. Miami Dolphins (3-1) (↓2)

They suffered a loss to the Bengals but did not look bad with Teddy Bridgewater under center and still have a very talented roster.

9. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) (↑3)

The offense looked great against the Texans and got out to a commanding lead early, but are still struggling with injuries to key players, which could have repercussions against better teams.

10. Baltimore Ravens (2-2) (↓3)

The offense was unable to stay hot after a quick start and the defense must be more consistent, but the team still has the ability to be dangerous.

11. Dallas Cowboys (3-1) (↑3)

The defense has looked great so far and the offense is doing enough to win games while Dak is out.

12. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) (↓2)

They lost in a sloppy game to the Eagles where they did not commit to the run game and were not able to protect the ball well enough, but they were not out-classed and still have a talented roster.

13. Minnesota Vikings (3-1) –

Besides their week 2 matchup against the Eagles, the Vikings offense has played well and their defense has looked good, but not great.

14. Tennessee Titans (2-2) (↑2)

The Titans looked better this week and the run game looks good again. They are beginning to round into form and there is no clear-cut favorite in the AFC West right now, which definitely helps them.

15. Los Angeles Rams (2-2) (↓7)

The offense is struggling because of the lack of pass protection, a weak rushing attack, and no consistent deep threat at the receiver position. Sean McVay has proven to be a great coach and should be able to figure it out, but time will tell.

16. Denver Broncos (2-2) (↓1)

The defense did not play as well this week as they had in previous games, but they still have a good defensive unit and should be able to bounce back against a weak Colts’ offense, especially without the threat of Jonathan Taylor. The offense still does not look great but has made some slow strides, but the loss of Javonte Williams hurts.

17. New England Patriots (1-3) (↑1)

The Patriots were able to play the Packers tough and force overtime, but came up short in the end. While I like the team more than many, it will be crucial to get back in the win column this week to gain some ground in the competitive AFC.

18. New York Giants (3-1) (↑6)

Saquon Barkley has put the team on his back this season and has been a huge reason for the Giants’ success, but their lack of all-around talent could show against better teams. This week against the Packers will be a big test.

19. New Orleans Saints (1-3) (↑1)

The Saints were competitive with the Vikings and lost a close game, and while they are 1-3, I still like their roster and believe they have the talent to bounce back.

20. Arizona Cardinals (2-2) (↑2)

They have looked solid, but not convincing to this point in the season, but were able to earn a victory over a weak Panthers team. They have a big challenge this week as they host the undefeated Eagles.

21. New York Jets (2-2) (↑7)

The defense has looked good and the offense was able to make a few big plays in order to win, but Zach Wilson will need to be more consistent throughout games.

22. Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) (↑5)

They were able to earn their first win behind a big day from Josh Jacobs and some exciting plays on defense, but have a big test this week as they travel to Kansas City for a primetime matchup, which will be a difficult one to win.

23. Atlanta Falcons (2-2) (↑3)

They have been able to play teams tough and are playing much better than I thought before the season, but their next three matchups are against the Buccaneers, 49ers, and Bengals, and they are worse than all three of them, so it will be difficult to keep pace with the other talented teams in the NFC.

24. Cleveland Browns (2-2) (↓7)

The run game almost always looks good for the Browns, but if the passing attack is not clicking, they tend to struggle. Although, when everything runs smoothly, they have a good team and are tough to beat.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3) (↓4)

They have decided to make a change at quarterback and start Kenny Pickett this week, which could provide a spark, but their upcoming schedule looks difficult, which could make for an interesting season next few weeks for the Steelers.

26. Seattle Seahawks (2-2) (↑4)

Geno Smith and the Seahawks offense looked good this past week, but I am not buying into this team too much yet, as the defense has not played well and some of the offense’s success could be due to the fact that the Lions’ defense is not good.

27. Detroit Lions (1-3) (↓8)

As noted in the team above’s write-up, the defense for the Lions has not looked good and the offense is forced to score tons of points to stay in games, which is not sustainable for this team over the course of an entire season.

28. Indianapolis Colts (1-2-1) (↓3)

Nothing about this team has convinced me that they are good. Their offensive line and run game are supposed to be the strength of the team but they have not been productive, and the pass game is lacking. The defense has not looked convincing either, but if they are able to win on Thursday against another struggling team in the Broncos, they could get a boost of confidence.

29. Washington Commanders (1-3) (↓6)

The offensive line is not playing well and Carson Wentz is making mental errors when pressured, which has ultimately led to a decline in offensive production, and the defense has been inconsistent.

30. Chicago Bears (2-2) (↓1)

The offense is still struggling with their passing attack and has not shown any improvement in that facet.

31. Carolina Panthers (1-3) –

Another team with a struggling passing game and as a whole. The defense looks solid, but they cannot depend on them to win their games each week.

32. Houston Texans (0-3-1) –

The only team in the league that has yet to find a way to win.
